Fundraising Hitchhike from Brighton to Brussels

This month, APIE supporters Hannah and Callum are hitch-hiking over 500 miles from Brighton to Brussels to raise money for our Scholarship Fund. This fund supports 30 children whose families couldn't otherwise afford the very minimal cost, to go to school - ensuring that no child is left outside the school gates and denied a high quality education.

Hannah and Callum are both avid advocates of international development and the power of quality education, so they wanted to use their voices to spread the word about APIE and Umubano Primary School throughout their trip through France and Belgium. We were delighted when Hannah contacted us and asked if she could help us and are incredibly grateful for this support!

Hannah and Callum left Brighton on Sunday 7 September and are currently making their way to Paris. From there, onto Belgium, ending up in the capital of Brussels. Fluent in French, they will be talking about the Scholarship Fund and the importance of a sustainable approach to international development – an ethos that informs all our work. The Scholarship Fund goes hand-in-hand with a partnership with other local NGOs in Rwanda, to support the poorest families to develop skills so that they can become self-sufficient and no longer dependent on charity for the education of their children.

Hannah will be live tweeting about their journey so keep an eye on our Twitter feed for the latest on their innovative fundraising challenge. Good luck, Hannah and Callum and we look forward to regular updates from your trip.
